On Fox news tonight (2/11/08), when Bill Oreilly asked Karl Rove about what he thought about Obama's ability to lead this great nation , he stated that Obama was not experienced enough. According to Mr. Rove, Obama is not knowledgeable about foreign policy to make the kinds of decisions that can move this nation forward. As I begin to think about Mr. Rove's comments and reflect on past presidents who did not have solid foreign policy credentials including Bill Clinton, I was left wondering how in the world he became a political advisor to George Bush when he knew that George Bush did not have the kind of experience-foreign or domestic-to move this nation in the right direction? Was he drawn to George Bush because of partisanship, was he mesmerized with the "Bush" name, or was he drawn to George Bush because he believed that George Bush had the leadership and experience to move this nation in the right direction? If he believed the latter, then I am sure he was wrong, and the economy, the war in Iraq, the rising healthcare costs and other domestic and foreign issues are evidence that he was very wrong. Maybe if he had not been inept and injudicious in providing George Bush the wise counsel he needed to handle our affairs over these eight years since he is one of the most experienced guys in Washington, millions of Americans including myself would have been better off than we are right now.
We always blame the commander in chief when things go wrong. Yes, we expect a lot from our commander in chief. America, we need to blame those who surround the commander in chief as well. Their inability to give the commander in chief the right kind of advice have put us in this mess. So, as Karl Rove starts to talk about experience and which candidate he thinks is the best leader for this great nation, I want to remind him that because of his ineptitude along with many in George Bush's government, millions of Americans are suffering and our moral standing in the world has been ruined. Please, Karl, do not tell us what is good for us. You did and convinced us in 2000. We were naive to believe you in 2004. This time, you won't!
